𭤆柬 (the upper character is pronounced with the fanqie 了彫 [liao + diao]. The Kaosheng states: '[敲-高+(止/米)] means to put in order.' The Tongsu wen writes it as 撩, which is how it is mostly used today. The Shuowen states: '[敲-高+(止/米)] means to select; formed from radical 手 with 尞 as the phonetic.' Although [敲-高+(止/米)] is the standard form, because it is archaic and difficult to use, in this Collection it is written with radical 米 and radical 斤 as 䉼, which is incorrect. The lower character is pronounced with the fanqie 姦眼 [jian + yan]. The Kaosheng states: '柬 means to select.' The Shuowen states: 'To differentiate and select; formed from 柬 and 八; 八 denotes differentiation.' Popularly written with radical 手 as 棟, which is mistaken.
