猛厲（盲獷反考聲云大惡而健也下力滯反考聲云犯正而為惡也危也嚴也說文從厂音罕從蠆丑介反省聲今經文從力作勵非也勵勉也非經義只合單作厲）。

Fierce and harsh (mengli: [first syllable] mang-guang fan. The Kaosheng says: 'Very evil and robust.' The second [syllable] li-zhi fan. The Kaosheng says: 'Transgressing what is correct to do evil; dangerous; severe.' The Shuowen gives it as taking the radical 厂 [han], with the phonetic component 蠆 [chou-jie fan] abbreviated. In the present sūtra text it takes the radical 力, written as 勵, which is incorrect. 勵 means to encourage; that is not the sūtra's meaning. It should only be written simply as 厲.)
