重擔（上柱勇反又柱用反並通下都濫反前卷已釋廣雅擔負也說文擔舉也從扌音手不從木詹音占聲也經文有從木作檐音琰占反非也檐屋檐也）。

Heavy burden (zhongdan: the first [syllable] zhu-yong fan, or also zhu-yong [falling tone] fan; both are acceptable. The second [syllable] dou-lan fan; it has already been explained in the preceding fascicle. The Guangya says: 'Dan means to carry on the back.' The Shuowen says: 'Dan means to lift. It takes the radical 扌 (hand), not 木, with 詹 (zhan) as phonetic.' In the sūtra text, some write it with the radical 木 as 檐, pronounced yan-zhan fan, which is incorrect; 檐 means eaves of a building.)
