Soiled and soaked (wuwo: [first syllable] wu-gu fan. Du [Yu's] commentary on the Zuo zhuan says: 'Wu means turbid.' The Han poems say: 'Defiled.' The second [syllable] ya-jiao fan. The Shizhuan says: 'Wo means thick.' The Jian commentary says: 'Purely soaked.' The Shuowen says: 'Moistened. It takes the radical 水 with 屋 as phonetic.')
