荊棘（薑迎反下居力反左傳班荊相與食顧野王楚木也廣雅棘藏也說文似棗而瘦叢生也）。
荊棘 [thorns and brambles] (The first is fanqie: 薑 + 迎; the second is fanqie: 居 + 力. The Zuo zhuan says: "Spreading brambles, they ate together." Gu Yewang says: "A bush of Chu." The Guangya says: "*Ji* means dense." The Shuowen says: "Resembling jujube but thinner, growing in clusters").
