Gathered peaks (欑峰: [first character pronounced] zāng-luán fan [cuán]. The Liji says: "To pile up grain." The Boya says: "Cuánwán (five-guān fan): the towering appearance of mountains." The Kaosheng says: "A cluster of small mountains; clustered trees." The Shuowen says: "It takes mù [wood] as radical and zàn as phonetic." It is also written with shān [mountain] as 巑. The lower character is pronounced fāng-fēng fan [fēng]: "A mountain that is high and pointed is called a fēng." It takes shān [mountain] as radical and fēng as phonetic. In the sūtra it is written with jīn [metal] as 鋒, which is also acceptable).
