諸冥（覓瓶迷並二反毛詩傳曰冥窈也一了反鄭箋云冥夜也說文幽也從冂音覓冂覆也從日日數十從六每十六日月初虧漸向幽暗也會意字也今經文多從宀音綿從具作𡨋非也失之甚矣）。

諸冥 (various darknesses): 冥 has two readings: *míng* (覓瓶反 [meŋ]) and *mǐng* (迷並反 [meŋ̌]). The *Mao Commentary* on the *Classic of Poetry* says: "冥 means deep and obscure (窈, *yǎo*, 一了反 [ʔɛǔ])." Zheng's commentary says: "冥 is night." The *Shuowen* says: "Dark and concealed; it takes 冂 (*mì*), 冂 meaning to cover; it takes 日 (sun) with the number ten, and takes 六 (six): every sixteenth day the moon begins to wane and progressively moves toward obscurity and darkness; it is an associative compound character." Nowadays sūtra texts mostly write it with the roof radical 宀 (*mián*) and 具 as 𡨋, which is incorrect and a grave error.
