惡癘（力滯反鄭注周禮云疫氣不和而為疾也郭璞注山海經云惡創也又音盧大反字書大風病也俗作癩非也說文惡病也從疒音女厄反萬省聲也有從𠂆音罕作厲訓用亦別非此義）。

惡癘 (Severe leprosy: [癘 has] the fanqie 力滯 [lì]. Zheng’s commentary on the Zhouli says: “Disharmony of pestilential qi turning into disease.” Guo Pu’s commentary on the Shanhaijing says: “Malignant sore.” It also has the fanqie 盧大 [lài]. Dictionaries state that it is the disease of great wind [leprosy]. The popular form 癩 is non-standard. The Shuowen says: “Malignant disease.” It is composed of the semantic 疒 (sound of 女厄 [nè]) and the abbreviated phonetic 萬. There is also a form with 𠂆 (sound 罕 [hǎn]) written 厲, whose semantic gloss and usage are distinct, and not this meaning.)
