綺繪 (Patterned damask and painted silks: the first character has the fanqie 墟倚 [qǐ]. The Shuowen says: “Patterned silk.” The second character has the fanqie 胡外 [huì]. Kong’s commentary on the Shangshu says: “繪 means the five colors.” Zheng’s commentary on the Analects says: “繪 means painting.” It is also written 繢.)
