庭燎（歷弔力召二反周禮注云於門外曰大燭門內曰庭燎皆所以照眾為明也鄭玄曰地燭也從火尞聲尞即古文燎字）。

Tingliao [courtyard torch] (two fanqie: li- + -diao and li- + -zhao. The commentary on the Zhouli says: 'Outside the gate it is called a great torch [dazhu]; inside the gate it is called a courtyard torch [tingliao]; both are used to illuminate the assembly.' Zheng Xuan says: 'A ground torch; composed of fire and liao phonetic; liao is the ancient character for liao').
