歎羨（涎箭反韓詩羨願也考聲愛也慕也說文貪欲也從美音眉彼反㳄聲也㳄音夕延反口液也從水從欠今俗用從羊從次作羨非也）。

Admiring and coveting (歎羨: [the character 羨 (covet)] is 涎 [xian] + 箭 [jian] [xiàn]. The Han text of the Shijing says: '羨 means to wish for.' The Kaosheng says: 'To love; to long for.' The Shuowen jiezi says: 'Greedy desire.' Composed of 美 (pronounced 眉 [mei] + 彼 [bi] [mǐ]) and 㳄 as phonetic. The character 㳄 is pronounced 夕 [xi] + 延 [yan] [xián], meaning saliva from the mouth, composed of water (水) and yawn (欠). Modern vulgar usage writes it with sheep (羊) and next (次) as 羨, which is incorrect).
