淩懱（上凌字借用從水水名也宜從力作陵正也下眠結反考聲輕㑥也從心蔑聲經文單作蔑非也說文又說蔑字從戍𦭝聲𦭝取音眠結反同上也）。

Overbear and slight (淩懱: the upper character [overbear (淩)] is a borrowed character with the water radical (氵/水), which is the name of a river; correctly it should be written with the strength radical (力) as 陵. The lower character [slight / despise (懱)] is 眠 [mian] + 結 [jie] [miè]. The Kaosheng says: 'To treat lightly.' Composed of the heart radical (忄/心) with 蔑 as phonetic. The sūtra text simply writing it as 蔑 is incorrect. The Shuowen jiezi also states that the character 蔑 is composed of 戍 with 𦭝 as phonetic, 𦭝 being pronounced 眠 [mian] + 結 [jie] [miè], the same as above).
