矛矟（上謨侯反韻英音暮蒲反兵仗也說文矛也建於兵車長二丈象形字也或作𢦵古字也經文作鉾俗字謬也正作矛諸字書並無此鉾字下霜捉反考聲云長矛也從矛肖省聲）。

Spears and lances (maoshuo 矛矟: the first character is [pronounced with the] fanqie mo-hou 謨侯; the Yunying pronuces it with the fanqie mu-pu 暮蒲. A weapon. The Shuowen says: “A spear; erected on war chariots, twenty feet long. A pictographic character.” It is also written as 𢦵, an ancient character. In the sūtra text it is written as 鉾, which is an erroneous vulgar character; it is correctly written as 矛. Dictionaries do not contain this character 鉾. The second character is [pronounced with the] fanqie shuang-zhuo 霜捉. The Kaosheng says: “A long spear. Composed of 'spear' (mao 矛) with an abbreviated xiao 肖 as phonetic”).
