鉾矟（上莫侯及俗字也正作矛象形字也考工記酋矛說文長二丈建於兵車也下所卓反廣雅矟亦矛也埤蒼丈八矛也從矛肖聲）。

Pikes and lances (moushuo 鉾矟: the first character is [pronounced with the] fanqie mo-hou 莫侯, and is a vulgar character; it is correctly written as 矛, a pictographic character. The Kaogongji mentions the short spear (qiumao 酋矛). The Shuowen says: “Twenty feet long, mounted on war chariots.” The second character is [pronounced with the] fanqie suo-zhuo 所卓. The Guangya says: “A shuo 矟 is also a spear.” The Picang says: “An eighteen-foot spear. Composed of 'spear' (mao 矛) with xiao 肖 as phonetic”).
