芬馥(上芳文反說文草初生香氣分布也從草分聲也經文從气作氛扶文反非也乃是祥瑞氛氳字非經義下音復韓詩云芬馥香氣貌也從香從復省聲也)。
Fragrant (芬馥; upper [character] *fāng* + *wén* fanqie. The *Shuowen jiezi* states: "The diffusing scent when plants first sprout; derived from the *cǎo* (grass) radical with *fēn* as phonetic." The sūtra text writes it with the *qì* (air) radical as 氛, pronounced *fú* + *wén* fanqie, which is incorrect, as that refers to auspicious vapors (*fēnyūn*), not the meaning of the sūtra. Lower [character] pronounced *fù*. The *Han Shi* states: "*Fēnfù* describes the fragrance of scent; derived from the *xiāng* (fragrance) radical with an abbreviated *fù* 復 as phonetic").
