穿鑿（上音川說文云穿通也從牙在穴中會意字也下藏鶴反考聲云木作具也說文云以穿木也從金從丵下從臼從殳金經文作鑿訛也丵音鋤學反臼音舊殳音殊古文作𠬛）。

Piercing and chiseling (穿鑿: the first character is pronounced 川. The Shuowen says: "穿 means to pierce through; it takes 牙 inside 穴, an associative compound." The second character has the fanqie 藏鶴. The Kaosheng says: "A woodworking tool." The Shuowen says: "Used to bore wood. It is composed of 金 and 丵, with 臼 below, alongside 殳 and 金." The sūtra text writes 鑿, which is an error. 丵 has the fanqie 鋤學; 臼 is pronounced 舊; 殳 is pronounced 殊; in ancient script it is written 𠬛).
