刮治（關滑反俗字也傳用已久篆書正體從𠯑作𠜜鄭注禮記云刮摩也廣雅刮減也橫刃刮去惡物說文刮去惡創肉也從刀𠯑之聲也𠯑音還刮反與滑音同下治音池跱笞反考聲治理也修故也說文從水台聲也）。

刮治 (guā-zhì; fanqie: guān + huá [guā]. A popular character that has been transmitted and used for a long time; the standard seal-script form takes 𠯑, written as 𠜜. Zheng [Xuan]'s commentary on the Liji says: '刮 means to scrape and rub.' The Guangya says: '刮 means to scrape away; scraping away bad matter with a blade held horizontally.' The Shuowen jiezi says: 'Scraping away foul flesh from a wound. It takes 刀 as semantic component and 𠯑 as phonetic component.' 𠯑 has the fanqie: huán + guā [huá], sharing the sound of 滑. The second character 治 is pronounced chí or has the fanqie: zhì + chī [zhì]. The Kaosheng says: '治理 means to manage and govern; to repair and restore the old.' The Shuowen jiezi says: 'It takes 水 as semantic component and 台 as phonetic component.')
