Licking with the tongue (舌舐) (the first character is fanqie: 善 + 熱; the Shuowen says: "The tongue inside the mouth, by which one speaks; it is classified under 千 and 口, where 千 is also phonetic." The second character is fanqie: 食 + 爾, a popular form; the Shuowen says: "舐 means to take up things with the tongue; it is classified under 舌 with 氏 as phonetic; the standard form is 舓." The scripture writes it with 口 as 𭇇, which is incorrect. The Kaosheng notes that it is alternatively written as 狧, 舐, 𦧇, or 咶—all five forms being ancient characters found across historical records).
