占吝（上之燄反下隣振反孔注尚書吝惜也方言荊湘汝郢之郊貪而不施曰𠫤郭注云慳吝多惜也說文從口文聲經從心作悋亦通古文從文作吝）。

Grudging and stingy (占吝) (the first character is fanqie: 之 + 燄; the second is fanqie: 隣 + 振; Kong's commentary to the Shangshu says: "吝 means miserly." The Fangyan says: "In the outskirts of Jing, Xiang, Ru, and Ying, being covetous and unwilling to give is called 𠫤." Guo's commentary says: "Stingy and deeply parsimonious." The Shuowen says: "It is classified under the mouth radical with 文 as phonetic." The scripture writes it under the heart radical as 悋, which is also acceptable. The ancient character is written with 文 as 吝).
