強項（胡講反案項謂戾人項強難迴也無量清淨覺云強項愚癡人是也大品經作增上慢人其義一也）。

Stiff-necked (強項) (fanqie: 胡 + 講. Upon examination, "necked" refers to an obstinate person whose neck is stiff and hard to turn. The *Wuliang qingjing jue* says: "Stiff-necked, foolish people," which is this. The *Larger Prajñāpāramitā Sūtra* renders it as "people of overweening pride"; the meaning is the same).
