疊栱（徒協反顧野王曰疊猶累也宋忠注太玄經云積也蒼頡篇重也說文從晶從宜楊雄云古者決罪三日得其冝乃行之故從三日王莽以三日太盛故改為三田）。

疊栱 (fanqie: 徒 + 協; Gu Yewang says: "疊 is like stacking up." Song Zhong's commentary on the Taixuan jing says: "It means to accumulate." The Cang Jie pian says: "To double; to layer." The Shuowen says: "It is classified under 晶 and takes 宜 as phonetic." Yang Xiong says: "In ancient times, when passing judgment on crimes, they took three days to find what was proper (宜) before executing it, so it is formed with three suns (晶 = 三日). Wang Mang, considering three suns to be overly flourishing, changed it to three fields (疊 = 田/田/田).")
