掬中（弓六反毛詩傳云滿手曰掬鄭注禮云匊手中也說文從米勹聲也勹音包字書正作此匊經從手作掬俗字通用也）。

Within a handful (掬中: [掬 is pronounced] 弓 + 六 [jū]. The Mao Commentary on the Shijing says: 'A full hand is called 掬.' Zheng's commentary on the Liji says: '匊 means within the hand.' The Shuowen says: 'It derives from 米 [rice] with 勹 as phonetic.' 勹 has the sound 包 [bāo]. Character dictionaries properly write it as this 匊; in the sūtra text it is written with 手 [hand] as 掬, which is a popular variant in general use).
