17.19

馳騁（直知反下勅郢反顧野王云馳走也杜注左傳云騁猶馳也廣雅馳騁皆奔也說文並從馬馳從也省聲也甹匹丁反甹聲也）。

馳騁 (fanqie: 直 + 知; the second character has the fanqie: 勅 + 郢; Gu Yewang says: "馳 means to run." Du's commentary on the Zuo zhuan says: "騁 is like 馳 (to gallop)." The Guangya says: "馳 and 騁 both mean to rush." The Shuowen classifies both under horse (馬); 馳 takes 也 abbreviated as phonetic; 甹 has the fanqie 匹 + 丁, and serves as the phonetic [for 騁]).
