炒粳（古文作鬻炒焣𤌉四形今作[鬲*(((巨-匚)@一)/((巨-匚)@一))]崔寔四民月令作炒古文奇字作[打-丁+(酉/火)]同初狡反方言熬焣煎[烋-木+(ㄆ/用)]火乾也[烋-木+(ㄆ/用)]音皮逼反）。

Roasting non-glutinous rice (炒粳; the ancient characters are written in four forms: 鬻, 炒, 焣, and 𤌉; nowadays written as [鬲*(((巨-匚)@一)/((巨-匚)@一))]. Cui Shi's Simin yueling writes it as 炒; the Guwen qizi writes it as [打-丁+(酉/火)], the same; pronounced with the fanqie chu + jiao. The Fangyan states: "Ao [parch], chao [stir-fry], jian [fry], and [烋-木+(ㄆ/用)] mean to dry by fire." [烋-木+(ㄆ/用)] is pronounced with the fanqie pi + bi).
