憍傲（上矯喬反考聲憍㑥也矝也廣雅傲慢也王注楚詞倨傲曰憍形聲字也下我告反考聲云憍倨也慢也蕩也或從女作嫯王注楚辝云侮慢曰慠從人敖聲）。

Arrogant and haughty (憍傲: the first [character] is jiao-qiao fan; the Kaosheng says: "憍 means arrogant; proud." The Guangya says: "傲 means haughty." Wang [Yi]'s commentary to the Chuci says: "Arrogant and haughty is called 憍." It is a phono-semantic character. The second [character] is wo-gao fan; the Kaosheng says: "Proud and haughty; disrespectful; dissolute." Sometimes written with radical 'woman' [女] as 嫯. Wang [Yi]'s commentary to the Chuci says: "Contemptuous and insolent is called 慠." It derives from radical 'person' [人] with 敖 as phonetic).
