極踴（渠億反鄭注禮記云極盡也竆也毛詩傳至也已也郭注爾雅遠也廣雅高也說文從水亟聲經從手非也亟音矜力反下容腫反杜注左傳踴跳躍也何休注公羊上也說文作踊字書作𧻹從足勇聲也）。

極踴 (qú + yì [jí]. Zheng's commentary on the Liji says: 'Exhausted; ultimate.' The Mao Commentary on the Shijing: 'To reach; to stop.' Guo's commentary on the Erya: 'Distant.' Guangya: 'High.' Shuowen: 'Derived from 水 (water), with 亟 as phonetic; the sūtra writing it with 手 (hand) is wrong.' 亟 is jīn + lì [jí]. Lower character: róng + zhǒng [yǒng]. Du's commentary on the Zuozhuan: 'To leap and jump.' He Xiu's commentary on the Gongyang: 'To ascend.' Shuowen writes it as 踊; dictionaries write it as 𧻹, derived from 足 (foot), with 勇 as phonetic).
