殄滅（上亭典反孔注尚書殄絕也爾雅盡也說文從歺㐱聲也經文從尒誤也滅字前卷已釋歺音殘㐱音之忍反也）。

殄滅 (The upper character is pronounced 亭 + 典 [*tiǎn*]. Kong [Anguo]'s commentary on the *Shangshu* says: '殄 means to terminate.' The *Erya* says: 'To exhaust.' The *Shuowen* says: 'Takes the semantic classifier 歺 and 㐱 as its phonetic component.' In the sūtra text it is erroneously written with 尒. The character 滅 was already explained in an earlier fascicle. 歺 is pronounced 残 [*cán*]; 㐱 is pronounced 之 + 忍 [*zhěn*]).
