寶函（遐緘反俗字相傳誤用函谷秦時關名說文正從木作椷椷篋也廣雅云篋謂之椷韻詮云盛經書器物也經以寶為匣盛佛舍利）。

寶函 (Pronounced 遐 + 緘 [*xián*]. The popular graph has been handed down erroneously, using the 函 as in Hangu Pass from the Qin dynasty. The *Shuowen* properly writes it with the classifier 木 as 椷; 椷 means a casket. The *Guangya* says: 'A casket is called a 椷.' The *Yunquan* says: 'A container for holding sūtras and books.' In the sūtra it denotes a jewelled casket used to hold the Buddha's relics).
