涉壙（上時葉反韓詩涉渡也漢書歷也說文云徒行涉水從步從林會意字今省為涉也下苦謗反毛詩傳曰壙空也廣雅大也𦒱聲壙垠原野遠貌也或作曠亦作懭亦通）。

涉壙 (wading through the wilderness; the former is shi/ye fan; the Han Text of the Odes says 涉 means 'to ford'; the Book of Han says 'to traverse'; Shuowen jiezi says 'to wade through water on foot; an ideogram composed of 步 and 林, now abbreviated as 涉'; the latter is ku/bang fan; the Mao Commentary on the Odes says 壙 means 'empty'; Guangya says 'vast'; according to the Qiesheng, it describes the distant expanse of plains and wilderness; it is also written 曠 or 懭, which are also interchangeable).
