雷雹（龐角反白虎通云雹之言合也陰氣專精凝合為雹鄭注禮記云陽為雨陰起脇之凝而為雹也說文云雹雨氷也從雨包聲也）。

雷雹 ("thunder and hail"; [the latter] fanqie: 龐 + 角. The Baihu tong says: "Bao (雹) is derived from he (合, to combine); the essence of yin qi solidifies and combines to become hail." Zheng's Commentary to the Liji says: "Yang creates rain, while yin rises to flank and congeal it into hail." The Shuowen says: "Hail is frozen rain; it takes 雨 as semantic and 包 as phonetic").
