22.16

須陀洹（正云窣路陀阿鉢囊言窣路陀者此云入也阿鉢囊者此云流也謂遍斷見惑捨異生性初獲聖性入聖行流故名入流也舊安洹字莫知其所以也）。

Xutuohuan 須陀洹 [srota-āpanna] (Correctly it is suluotuobao'nang [srotāpanna]. *Srota* (suluotuo) translates as 'entering'; *āpanna* (abochang) translates as 'stream'. It means having completely severed the afflictions of view, abandoned the nature of an ordinary being, first attained the noble nature, and entered into the stream of noble practice; hence it is called 'entering the stream' (ruliu). The reason why the character huan 洹 was placed in the old [transcription] is unknown).
