乾陀羅國（此云持地國昔此國多有道果聖賢住持其境不為他國侵害也又云乾陀是香羅謂陀羅此云遍也言遍此國內多生香氣之花故名香遍國其國在中印度北北印度南二界中間也）。

Kingdom of Gandhāra (here translated as “Kingdom that Upholds the Earth”; anciently, many sages and saints of the spiritual fruits dwelt in and maintained its borders, so that it was not harmed by other kingdoms. It is also said that gandha is fragrance, and dhāra here means “pervading”; it means that throughout this kingdom flowers of fragrant scent abundantly grow, hence named the Kingdom of Pervading Fragrance. The kingdom lies between the borders of Central India to the south and Northern India to the north).
