靡不該練（珠叢曰靡無也廣雅曰該咸也包也小雅曰該𬾨也珠叢曰鎔金曰鍊煮絲令熟曰練也該字又作䀭練字鎔金從金煮𮈔從𮈔或從散水也）。

"None was not comprehensively mastered" (The Zhucong states: "靡 means none." The Guangya states: "該 means all; to encompass." The Minor Odes state: "該 means complete." The Zhucong states: "Smelting metal is called 鍊; boiling silk to make it pliable is called 練." The character 該 is also written as 䀭. For the character 練/鍊, smelting metal takes the metal radical [金], boiling silk takes the silk radical [糸], or sometimes takes the water radical [氵]).
