坑穽 [Pits and snares] (穽 is pronounced 疾 [jí] + 政 [zhèng] fanqie [jìng]. Zheng Xuan's commentary on the Zhouli states: '穽 refers to excavating the earth to make a trench in order to trap beasts; those that try to leap across fall in.'
