屋宇（古文㝢籀文作𢉠同于甫反說文宇屋邊檐也釋名宇羽也如鳥羽翼自覆蔽也左傳失其宇注於國則四垂為宇宇亦屋溜也居也）。

屋宇 (The ancient form is 㝢, and the seal script form is 𢉠, both with the fanqie 于甫 [y- + -ǔ = yǔ]. The Shuowen jiezi says: '宇 means the eaves of a house.' The Shiming says: '宇 means feather (羽), like a bird's feathers covering and sheltering itself.' The Zuozhuan says: 'Lost its 宇.' The commentary states: 'Regarding a state, the four overhangs are the 宇. 宇 also refers to the eaves of a house, or a dwelling').
