株杌（上音誅考聲株謂殺樹之餘也說文木根也從木朱聲下吾骨反說文杌斷也從木九聲或從出作柮）。

Stump and snag (株杌) (The upper character has the sound zhu [zhū]. The Kaosheng states: "株 refers to the remainder of a felled tree." The Shuowen states: "A tree root; derived from the tree radical 木 with 朱 phonetic." The lower character has the fanqie Wu + Gu [wù]. The Shuowen states: "杌 means chopped off; derived from the tree radical 木 with 九 phonetic." It is also written with 出 as 柮).
