慳吝（上客艱反下隣鎮反孔註尚書恪惜也郭註方言若謂慳著多惜恨也說文從口文聲古文作[嗹-車+(彰-章)]又作𠳺或作悋亦作遴也）。

Stingy and parsimonious (慳吝) (The upper character has the fanqie Ke + Jian [qiān]; the lower character has the fanqie Lin + Zhen [lìn]. Kong's commentary on the Shangshu states: "Greedy and begrudging." Guo's commentary on the Fangyan states: "If one is stingy and attached, having many regrets about parting with things." The Shuowen states: "Derived from the mouth radical 口 with 文 phonetic." Ancient script writes it as [嗹-車+(彰-章)] or 𠳺; it is also written 悋 or 遴).
