慘𡹆苦（上楚銘反亦倉感反方言慘殺也考聲甚也說文慘[山/工/母]也從心參聲下同鹿反孔註尚書云[山/工/母]害也考聲痛也恨也惡也說文害人之草也從中從毒經中作毒訛略也坶音哀改反從土從毋母音無也）。

Cǎndú kǔ 慘𡹆苦 (The upper character is fanqie 楚銘 [chǐ] or 倉感 [cǎn]. The Fangyan says: 'cǎn 慘 means to kill'. The Kaosheng says: 'extreme'. The Shuowen jiezi says: 'cǎn means dú 𡹆; with radical xīn 心 and cān 參 phonetic'. The lower character is fanqie 同鹿 [dú]. Kong's commentary on the Shangshu says: 'dú 𡹆 means harm'. The Kaosheng says: 'painful, resentful, evil'. The Shuowen jiezi says: 'A weed harmful to humans; with radical zhōng 中 and dú 毒; in the sūtra it is written as dú 毒, which is an erroneous abbreviation; mǔ 坶 is fanqie 哀改 [ǎi], with radical tǔ 土 and wún 毋; mǔ 母 is pronounced wú 無').
