Mouthfuls (含: hu + gan fan; the Zhuangzi says: "Holding food in the mouth and patting one's belly." The Cangjie pian says: "Han means to hold food in the mouth." It refers to a mother feeding her child, worrying that it might not digest, thus producing anxiety; the Buddha knew her thought. Old sound glosses give 琀, hu + gan fan; the Shuowen says: "Jade placed in the mouth of the deceased at burial"; this does not accord with the sūtra's meaning, so it is not adopted here).
