刺刺（上雌自反草木刺人為朿刀劒矛矟傷人者為刺古文作朿字說文木𦬆也下清亦反廣雅以刃橦也）。

Pierce and stab (the first character is pronounced 雌 + 自 in fanqie; when plants and trees prick humans it is thorns (朿); when knives, swords, spears, and lances injure humans it is stabbing (刺); the ancient character was written as 朿; the Shuowen says: "The awn of wood"; the second character is pronounced 清 + 亦 in fanqie; the Guangya says: "To thrust with an edged weapon").
