旃陀羅（亦名旃荼羅此云嚴幟謂以惡業自嚴行持標幟也其人若行必搖鈴自標若不爾者必獲重罪時人謂殺人膾子屠也獵擔糞人也）。

Caṇḍāla (also written 旃荼羅; here means "severe banner", meaning they adorn themselves with evil karma and carry a banner as they move; when such people walk, they must shake a bell to mark themselves; if they do not do so, they incur heavy guilt; people of that time referred to them as executioners, butchers, hunters, and dung-carriers).
