Foundry furnace (yě has the fanqie y[ǐ] + [zh]ě; the Shuowen states: “To melt”; the Sancang states: “To melt and fuse”; encountering heat it flows, encountering cold it solidifies, sharing the principle with water, hence the character takes the ice radical).
