中陰有三種食（言思食者是業不死也二觸食者藉洽煗觸而命得存三意食者即識食如卵生類心常念母故身不爛壞）。

The intermediate existence has three kinds of nutriment (food of volition means not dying due to karma; second, food of contact means maintaining life by relying on moist, warm contact; third, food of mental contemplation is food of consciousness, as in oviparous creatures whose minds constantly keep the mother in mind, so that their bodies do not decay).
