Aṅgulimāla (This means "Garland of Fingers." He was a non-Buddhist who killed people and took their fingers to make flower garlands. Falling short by one finger, he saw the Buddha on the road, drew his sword, and ran after him, shouting: "Stop, stop, Great Śramaṇa, prince of King Śuddhodana! I am Aṅgulimāla; you must render me one finger!" The World-Honoured One walked leisurely and led him to the saṅghārāma; upon hearing the Dharma, he renounced the household life and was at once ordained. This appears in the Aṅgulimālīya-sūtra).
