出柔耎（而兖反廣雅柔耎弱也通俗文物柔曰耎漢書耎不勝任也俗作軟非也耎下耎通用有作𣽈非也）。

Soft and supple (churouruan): (er + yan [ruǎn]. The Guangya says: "Rouruan means weak." The Tongsuwen says: "When a thing is soft it is called ruan." The Hanshu says: "Ruan means incapable of bearing a burden." The popular form 軟 is incorrect. The lower ruan [耎] is used interchangeably; some write 𣽈, which is incorrect).
