瑕疵（疾移反古文𤶬同瑕過也說文疵病玉篇云玉內有病曰瑕玉外有病曰疵今作疵者法內之人有煩惱病如玉之有瑕非如玉外病也）。

Flaws and blemishes (瑕疵): jiyi [fanqie]; in ancient script identical to 𤶬. Xia means an error. The Shuowen says: ci is a defect. The Yupian says: "A flaw inside jade is called xia; a blemish outside jade is called ci." Its use here as 疵 means that a person within the Dharma has the affliction of defilement like a flaw inside jade, not like a defect on the outside of jade.
