梁棟（爾雅杗廇謂之梁郭璞云屋大梁也亦通語耳棟音東弄反說文棟屋極也釋名云棟中也居屋之中杗音亡廇音力救反）。

Beams and ridgepoles (梁: The Erya says: 'A mangliu is called a liang.' Guo Pu says: 'The great beam of a house; also a general term.' 棟: pronounced *towng-nowng* [fanqie: 東弄]. The Shuowen says: 'A ridgepole is the summit of a roof.' The Shiming says: '棟 means center; situated in the center of the house.' 杗 is *mu-xwang* [fanqie: 亡]; 廇 is *li-kjuw* [fanqie: 力救]).
