塔（梵云窣堵波此云高顯制多此云靈廟律云塔婆無舍利云支提今塔即窣堵訛云塔古書無塔字葛洪字苑及切韻塔即佛堂佛塔廟也）。

Stūpa (ta): (In Sanskrit, stūpa; here translated as 'high and prominent'. Caitya; here translated as 'numinous shrine'. The Vinaya says: with relics it is a stūpa (tapuo), without relics it is called a caitya (zhiti). The present ta is stūpa, corrupted as ta. Ancient books did not have the character ta [塔]. Ge Hong's Ziyuan and the Qieyun say that a ta is a Buddha hall or a Buddha stūpa shrine).
