嬈固（乃了反字林嬈擾也纂文嫽嬈戱弄也嬈煩也亦惱也文殊現寶藏經等作𤲶固字或作嬲音同嬈固堅也今宜作厭蠱之蠱字林音故又音古厭音於冉反謂伏合人心也尒疋蠱疑也謂疑惑人也摩登伽經作擾蠱言此魔作擾亂厭蠱也諸經有作𮨇非體也蟲在皿上為蠱字意也蟲音直中反也）。

嬈固 [trouble and seduce] (Fanqie 乃了 [niao]. The Zilin says: "嬈 means to disturb." The Zuanwen says: "嫽嬈 means playing tricks; 嬈 means irritating, and also annoying." In the Wenshushili xian baozang jing and others, it is written 𤲶固, or written 嬲, with the same sound as 嬈. 固 means firm. Now it should properly be written as the gu in yangu (sorcery). The Zilin gives the sound 故 [gu], and also 古 [gu]. 厭 has the fanqie 於冉 [yan], meaning to bend to and match people's minds. The Erya says: "蠱 means doubt; that is, misleading people." The Mātangī-sūtra writes 擾蠱, saying this demon creates disturbance and bewitchment. In various sūtras it is written 𮨇, which is not the standard character form. The intention behind the character is worms inside a vessel; 蟲 has the fanqie 直中 [chong]).
