誾誾（古文㝘同魚巾反說文誾誾和悅而爭也禮記誾誾和敬之皃也經又作狺字與㹞同音牛佳牛巾二反犬聲也狺非字義又作唁宜箭反非此用也）。

Gentle and respectful (誾誾): The ancient script writes 㝘, identical, with the fanqie 魚巾 [yín]. The Shuowen says: '誾誾 means disputing affably and pleasantly.' The Liji says: '誾誾 is an appearance of harmony and respect.' The sūtra also writes it as 狺, identical to the character 㹞, with the two pronunciations 牛佳 [yái] and 牛巾 [yín], meaning the barking of dogs; 狺 is not the correct character. Some also write it as 唁, with the fanqie 宜箭 [yàn], which is not appropriate for this context.
